Captain Jesse Cross listened to the cadence of her footsteps as she left the carriageway. The iron gate creaked as she went through it and vanished into the night. He longed to go after her. You have lost your fool mind? He leaned against the stone wall and gave his head a shake. How could he possibly be so intrigued by a woman whose face he had never seen?

Intriguing six, Patricia! I like this story very much. :)
Great SSS. A hint of mystery and intrigue.
You all are up early!
Chemistry there and he hasn't even seen her face yet. Great six!
Sounds GOOD!
Happy Sunday Pat!!

I can see it since was in New Orleans not long ago. Hasn't seen her face and has fallen - he has his priorities straight - we know she is a beauty anyway. Well done!
The mystery of the unknown will get them every time. Captain Cross is my kind of hero. Great six for him.
He's intrigued and I am too!
Love the setting. This sounds great.
Ah, imagination! Great beginning.
I think it's perfectly believable. Can't wait to read on!
I love the way he's telling himself off. Excellent build up.
Bet he ends up following her.
And in the set up I love the oxymoron-military intelligence
Ooo!!!! very interesting!!!!!

Always a lovely thing to see, that moment where it's all in the heart and not the eyes. :)

A Way To A Dragon's Heart 6ss
Because she's so much more than a face. Never met a man yet who can resist a mystery. Yep, am liking this one.
a great 6
Very intriguing! I wonder what will happen when they meet face to face, if they do?
Wow, nice. Who is she, I wonder....
fantastic six, I'm so intrigued.
I love the sounds in your six: the cadence of her footsteps, the creak of the gate. Lovely.
I love the total atmosphere of this six.
Bet she haunts his thoughts until their next meeting! Great Six, as always.
I'm sure not seeing her face is part of the intrigue. Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that!
Always enjoy your snippets, and this week is no exception! Love it! Wish he'd go running after her, though! LOL
If he can hear the cadence of her footsteps, what is she walking on? Wood? Stone? Brick? I'd love just a smidge more information to really hear it ;)
